Tollywood witnessed the hulchul of three movies in the second half of this year, ‘Dookudu’, Oosaravelli and Panjaa, starring three different heroes who are opponents among themselves. Let us have a look into their performance at the box office in the first weeks of their releases.
Dookudu: This movie released with not much expectations as three of Mahesh’s movies in a row were bombed at the box office after his Industry Hit ‘Pokiri’. However, the movie got super hit talk on its first day itself. Mahesh’s craze, heroine’s glamour, hilarious comedy and the music are the highlights of the movie. Dookudu has created an all time first week share record of Rs.28.15 crores, which is currently an unbeatable first week record.
Oosaravelli: This movie released with a great hype as even other heroes’ fans treated this movie as the contender for ‘Dookudu’. This movie was released with an all time record number of centers, and in AP this is still an unbeatable record. With the help of Jr.NTR’s craze, heroine Tamanna’s glamour and good music by Devi Sri Prasad the movie got all time third best first week share of Tollywood, Rs. 23.36 crores. The Dasara festival season also helped the movie in collecting more shares in the first week. However, the collections were dropped from its second week on wards.
Panjaa: This movie was released with a great hype only because Pawan Kalyan’s factor with a touch of audio’s success. However, the movie received very poor talk on day one. The movie got bad remarks in many departments like selection of heroines, misuse of music, non-native director etc. Also, the movie was sold to the distributors who did not have command on the market, as it was seen in Nizam area and in a few other areas where the movie was not released in good theaters. Also, the movie was released in un-season. Despite all these negative points, the movie collected Rs.22.03 crores share which is slightly lower than Oosaravelli’s first week share. Currently, Pawan Kalyan’s fans are hoping that as the movie is doing well in Overseas too, with the help of better publicity, the movie could cross the shares of ‘Oosaravelli’ and other movies released in this year in its full run except ‘Dookudu’.
