A mid-air plane collision is an aviation accident in which two or more aircraft come into contact with each other during flight. It is an extremely rare event, however there have been several instances of mid-air plane collisions throughout aviation history. Most mid-air collisions have resulted in fatalities, as the impact and crash usually cause severe damage to the aircraft.
